FOR ARDUINO-BASED SENSORS, MAXMSP, AND ABLETON LIVE
Choreographed by Nita Yancey for the Indiana University Contemporary Dance Department as part of the Hammer & Nail Festival, 9-10 April 2013 at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater, Bloomington.
Euclidean Dominant (2013) was composed with the help of an Arduino microcontroller, a small photoresistor which measured the luminosity of my living room, my hand which varied the light intensity around the sensor, and a Euclidean rhythm generator. The data from the light sensor was used to control synthesizers in MaxMSP, producing odd rhythms reminiscent of the folk music of the Balkans.
